Another great letter about how Super Summer is affecting lives!
Hey Leighton!
My name is Breanne Martin and I've been to Super Summer since my Red school year, I'll be in kahki this year! This past summer at session one I was able to share my testimony through the cardboard testimony skit. After that night, so many people came up to me telling me how much it spoke to them and I saw how God used me and my story to touch other people. For the first time, I saw the importance of my Testimony. Being able to share my story gave me a passion to encourage other people to share their story. Our personal stories are powerful.
Now to the point of my subject, "changing tides."
Global Missions has also been a big part of my life ever since I can remember. I've felt God calling me into missions since my 5th grade year. I've been to Spain 3 times with my youth group [First Baptist Port Neches, Adam Pardue] and went to the amazon in Peru this past summer. The financial cost of these trips are great and I wanted to find a way to help people seeking to go global.
After camp, I felt a burden placed on my heart to DO something to encourage people to share their story.
My best friend had the same burden laid on his heart and we co-created a non-profit organization called "Changing Tides".
[The way our lives change so quickly is compared to the way the tide changes.]
Through our profit we are raising money to help people with their financial needs in trips and also to buy clothing to bring with us to Ghana, Africa next summer for the children. We are also encourage people to submit their testimonies to us so that we can post them on our site for others to see.
We are just now touching base with the creation of this organization. We are still trying to perfect and make things pretty while trying to figure out computer programs and raise money to get started. We do have ideas, a foundation, and know where we are headed. We've started a myspace and going from there, hopefully we'll have a cause on facebook soon.
Our saying is "Share your story. Save a Life. Change the World."
